A HOTEL & A BEACON

The word Shammah means always there. It's interesting how many of us need to know that someone or something that affects our lives positively is always going to be there for us to rely on. When the founders of Shammah Hotel Kisumu embarked on opening a boutique establishment with affordable rooms suitable for different groups of travelers they wanted to be a beacon.

Time and time again I would come across a hiking enthusiast, a bike enthusiast, a cross country driver, a lecturer, businessman, politician, friends or a close knit family lounging at the Shammah Hotel lobby anticipating or reminiscing their travels within the Western Region of Kenya. I would almost always spot the signs of being content in their body language. They are home away from home amongst friendly staff that would care for them as though they were family.

A space of refuge and tranquility can reveal itself to all of us, but to become a beacon that space must remain so for a lifetime. Shammah Hotel is a beacon to many of us in the simplest of ways. Their doors are always open, their beds warm, their food hearty and their staff family.
